Christmas with the Choral Society

Building on a time-honored tradition, the Des Moines Choral Society was thrilled to herald in the holiday with the seasonal favorite, Christmas with the Choral Society! Performed at St. Ambrose Cathedral in conjunction with the Diocese of Des Moines Centennial Celebration, this concert reflected an evening of lessons and carols, with works by Handel, Mozart and other noted composers. As always, the audience was invited to join us in singing a cherished Christmas carol or two. [top]

Brahms' Requiem

During an evening of musical grandeur, the Des Moines Choral Society presented one of the most beloved choral masterworks, Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutches Requiem. The four-hand piano arrangement of this masterpiece was set against the lovely backdrop of St. Ambrose Cathedral in conjunction with the Diocese of Des Moines Centennial Celebration. Our own Elaine Wedeking and four-year Iowa All-State accompanist Michael Bagby were at the keyboard.

On June 22, 2011 we gave a repeat performance at St. John's Basilica (with organ accompaniment) in association with the regional American Guild of Organists meeting is Des Moines. [top]
