Auditions
Want to join us as a singer? Singer membership in the Des Moines Choral Society is by audition. Auditions for singers not currently members of the Choral Society consist of singing a prepared solo (accompanist can be provided), vocalizations, sight reading, and tonal memory exercises. No experienced singer in the greater Des Moines area should miss the opportunities offered by this ensemble. The audition for current singers will include singing excerpts from music recently learned and performed in a Choral Society concert.
This year's season of three concerts includes classical and contemporary repertoire. Auditions are held at Plymouth Church, 4126 Ingersoll (42nd & Ingersoll), in the rehearsal room, 3rd floor, west side of the church building. Park in the circle drive on 42nd Street, come in the doors on west side and up the stairs. A greeter will help to fill out forms and answer questions. The audition will last approximately 10 minutes. Auditionees should come 10 minutes early to fill out the forms. A room nearby with a piano is available to warm up if desired.
